However, it works over a wireless connection as well. It\u2019s because the wireless ADB mode often doesn\u2019t start the server required to connect your computer to your device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Initiating The ADB Setup Over a USB Connection<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Head over to the <a href=\"https:\/\/developer.android.com\/tools\/releases\/platform-tools\">ADB<\/a> website and download and extract the package on your computer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Launch the <strong>Settings<\/strong> app on your Android device, tap on <strong>Developer options<\/strong>, and enable the option that says <strong>USB debugging<\/strong>. Since your computer is already one of the authorized machines for USB debugging, you won\u2019t get a prompt or anything like that asking for your permission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Get back to your command line window, type in the following command, and hit <strong>Enter<\/strong>. This means you won\u2019t need to first connect the device using a USB cable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll need the IP address of your device, though.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Head over to the Google Play Store and download and install the Terminal Emulator app on your device.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Run the following command and provide the app with SU permissions on your device.<br><br><strong>su<\/strong><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Type in the following command one by one and these will initialize everything required for an ADB connection.<br><br><strong>setprop service.adb.tcp.port 5555<br>stop adbd<br>start adbd<\/strong><em><br><\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Run the following command replacing <strong>IP<\/strong> with the IP address of your device on your computer\u2019s command line window. It\u2019ll connect to your device using ADB.<br><br><strong>adb connect IP<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You can now run any of the commands you want on your device. Also, since your device is rooted, you can even run commands that require superuser permissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What ADB Commands To Try Out First<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019ve never <a href=\"https:\/\/www.online-tech-tips.com\/how-to-take-a-screenshot-on-android\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">run any commands in ADB<\/a> before, there are a few useful commands that you can run for the first time and get things done on your device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Reboot device &#8211; <em>adb reboot<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Send file to the device &#8211; <em>adb push source target<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Get file from the device &#8211; <em>adb pull source target<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Install an app &#8211; <em>adb install app-name.apk<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Uninstall an app &#8211; <em>adb uninstall package-name<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Take a screenshot &#8211; <em>adb shell screencap -p \/sdcard\/capture.png<\/em> and then use <em>adb pull \/sdcard\/capture.png<\/em> to pull the screenshot to your computer<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>When you\u2019ve finished, run the <em>adb disconnect<\/em> command to disconnect from your Android device.<br><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ADB stands for Android Debug Bridge and it\u2019s a utility you can install on your computer to perform actions on your Android device.
