Your gaming performance is affected by the number of processes and applications running on your computer. While you can shut down the majority of unnecessary applications, antivirus software is one you should keep running. Between mods, peer-to-peer connections, and other forms of multiplayer, antivirus software can protect you from unwanted and uninvited connections to your PC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In many cases, antivirus software won\u2019t affect your PC\u2019s gaming performance unless it\u2019s performing a scan (a process that utilizes a tremendous amount of CPU power.) You can further improve performance without sacrificing security by utilizing game boosters or gaming modes. Under no circumstances should you disable your antivirus protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Activate Game Mode<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Many antivirus programs include a mode called \u201cgaming mode\u201d or \u201cgaming boost.\u201d This mode restricts the antivirus\u2019 capabilities while you\u2019re gaming and prevents it from performing a scan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In some antivirus software like Panda, game mode turns on automatically (as long as it\u2019s enabled) when an application enters full-screen mode. You can also manually turn it on by right-clicking the Panda icon in the Windows taskbar and selecting Enable gaming\/multimedia mode.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other antivirus software requires you activate game mode in the settings menu. Kaspersky is one example of this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
