Rebooting Android phones is easy, but the steps may vary depending on your phone\u2019s model and operating system version. If it\u2019s your first time using an Android smartphone, we\u2019ll show you different ways to reboot the device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Use Your Phone\u2019s Power Button<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Almost all brands and models of Android smartphones have a power button. Press and hold the Power button for 5-10 seconds<\/strong> to reveal the power menu. Afterward, select Restart<\/strong> to shut down the device and power it back on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Perform a Hard Reboot<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A frozen or unresponsive Android device may not display the power menu when you press and hold the power button. Force restart (also called a \u201cHard Restart\u201d or \u201cHard Reboot\u201d) the device to turn it off and back on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Press and hold the Power button<\/strong> for 15-30 seconds. Or, press and hold the Power key<\/strong> and Volume Down key<\/strong> simultaneously for 7-10 seconds. Your phone will stay on a black screen for some seconds and come back on automatically. If nothing happens, your device probably doesn\u2019t support the key combination. Try holding the Power<\/strong> and Volume Up<\/strong> buttons for at least 15 seconds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you hard reboot a phone that isn\u2019t frozen, the device may capture a screenshot<\/a> when holding the Power and Volume Down keys. Keep holding the keys after the screenshot to initiate the hard reboot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to Auto Restart Android Phones<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Your phone can get slow and develop some issues after long usage periods. Configuring your phone to auto-restart based on a schedule can optimize its performance. Luckily, some Android phone manufacturers (Samsung, for example) incorporate an auto-restart feature in their devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That allows you to schedule periods (time or days) when you want your phone to shut down and restart automatically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Open the Setting<\/strong> app and tap General Management<\/strong>.<\/li>
  2. Tap Reset<\/strong> and select Auto restart<\/strong>. Or, you can move the Auto restart<\/strong> toggle to the right and tap Auto restart<\/strong> to configure the auto-restart schedule.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    1. Make sure Auto restart<\/strong> is toggled on, then select the day(s) and time when your Samsung phone should auto-restart.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      On some Samsung Galaxy models, go to Settings<\/strong> > Battery and device care<\/strong>, and tap the three-dot menu icon in the top-right corner. Select Automation<\/strong> and tap Auto restart at set times<\/strong>. Move the On<\/strong> toggle to the right and set your preferred auto-restart schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Your phone will restart only when:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
