Sometimes, no matter how good your handiwork is, situations happen where your video comes out a bit off-kilter. This can make your video look less professional, be distracting, or blur your subject \u2013 all things you want to avoid. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The creators of the video editing software Adobe Premiere Pro foresaw this situation and graciously included a method to stabilize your shaky footage in post-production. It works very well for minimal to medium shakiness and can really make your final piece look yards more polished. Go to the <strong>Media Browser<\/strong>. Search your computer for the video files you\u2019re using. Select and drag the files into your timeline. You can then play it back in the Preview panel to see if you like the results. If something is off, there are a few ways you can edit this effect in the Effect Controls panel to make it look exactly the way you want. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to Edit the Stabilization Effect<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you want to change anything about the stabilization effect, such as the movement, method of stabilization, borders, scaling, or more, you can change these in the Effect Controls. This is the type of motion you want the effect to have on your video. This is an important aspect of using the Warp Stabilizer effect, as each stabilization method can be useful in different types of situations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.online-tech-tips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/image-36.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"656\" height=\"333\" src=\"https:\/\/www.online-tech-tips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/image-36.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-86090\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.online-tech-tips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/image-36.jpeg 656w, https:\/\/www.online-tech-tips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/image-36-300x152.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.online-tech-tips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/image-36-320x162.jpeg 320w, https:\/\/www.online-tech-tips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/image-36-640x325.jpeg 640w, https:\/\/www.online-tech-tips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/image-36-360x183.jpeg 360w, https:\/\/www.online-tech-tips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/image-36-610x310.jpeg 610w, https:\/\/www.online-tech-tips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/image-36-80x41.jpeg 80w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 656px) 100vw, 656px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Position<\/strong> method uses only position data within your video to stabilize it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Position, Scale, and Rotation<\/strong> method uses data from all three of these to stabilize your clip. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Perspective<\/strong> method will corner pin the frame of your video to stabilize the tracking of the shot. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Subspace Warp<\/strong> method stabilizes only parts of the video that it analyzes to be shaky to make the whole video more uniform. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By selecting the correct method for your clip, you\u2019ll get a more natural-looking effect. For instance, when using Warp Stabilization, you don\u2019t want a video that, while looking smoother, still has too much movement and distracts from the subject. If you try all the methods available and the video clip still looks like this, it may be too shaky to save. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Preserve Scale<\/strong> check box underneath Method will retain the scale of your original footage. Sometimes, using a specific Method will alter the scale of footage to get a better result. You can check off Preserve Scale, but it may cause the video to look off. But this depends on the clip itself. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Borders Dropdown<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>When using Warp stabilizer, Premiere will alter the borders of your video by cropping them to achieve better stabilization. However, if you notice black bars around your video, go to the <strong>Framing<\/strong> section to make adjustments. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.online-tech-tips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/image-37.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"473\" height=\"165\" src=\"https:\/\/www.online-tech-tips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/image-37.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-86091\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.online-tech-tips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/image-37.jpeg 473w, https:\/\/www.online-tech-tips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/image-37-300x105.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.online-tech-tips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/image-37-320x112.jpeg 320w, https:\/\/www.online-tech-tips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/image-37-360x126.jpeg 360w, https:\/\/www.online-tech-tips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/image-37-80x28.jpeg 80w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 473px) 100vw, 473px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have the <strong>Stabilize Only<\/strong> option selected, it\u2019s the likeliest reason behind the black bars. Unfortunately, Premiere doesn\u2019t scale the video to take them out, so you\u2019ll still see them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Stabilize, Crop<\/strong> option can cause even more pronounced black bars. In addition to stabilization, it also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.online-tech-tips.com\/how-to-crop-rotate-and-resize-videos-in-adobe-premiere-pro\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">crops the footage<\/a> to get a more stable effect yet doesn\u2019t scale the footage to hide the crop.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you select <strong>Stabilize, Crop, Auto-Scale<\/strong>, Premiere will scale the footage to take out the bars. As a result, though, this can result in a low-resolution video.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you select <strong>Stabilize, Synthesize Edges<\/strong>, Premiere will add pixels based on your video and remove the black bars. However, this option takes more processing power. However, know that choosing this option will disable the auto-scale section as well as Crop Less Smooth More.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Below the Framing dropdown, you\u2019ll see <strong>Auto-scale<\/strong>. This tells you how much your video has been scaled. You can open this dropdown to change the <strong>Maximum Scale<\/strong> level. You can also change the <strong>Action-Safe Margin<\/strong>, which will add a border to the video. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can go down to change the <strong>Additional Scale<\/strong> and scale the video even more if you wish. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Advanced Options<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are a few options you\u2019ll want to keep in mind to get better stabilization. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.online-tech-tips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/image-38.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"517\" height=\"234\" src=\"https:\/\/www.online-tech-tips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/image-38.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-86092\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.online-tech-tips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/image-38.jpeg 517w, https:\/\/www.online-tech-tips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/image-38-300x136.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.online-tech-tips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/image-38-320x145.jpeg 320w, https:\/\/www.online-tech-tips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/image-38-360x163.jpeg 360w, https:\/\/www.online-tech-tips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/image-38-80x36.jpeg 80w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 517px) 100vw, 517px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>First, there is the <strong>Detailed Analysis<\/strong> checkbox. If you turn this on, Premiere will do a more in-depth analysis to get you a better stabilization effect. However, this will use more processing power and cause longer render times. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you chose the <strong>Synthesize Edges<\/strong> option under Framing, you could also change the <strong>Input Range<\/strong> here to determine how much of the video both forward and backward in seconds Premiere will use to create new edges from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also choose to hide the warning banner here that appears while the video is being stabilized. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Get Smoother Shots Using Warp Stabilizer in Premiere<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Shaky video is one of the last things you want in your video project, but accidental camera movement can be hard to avoid at times, especially when shooting handheld footage.
