It\u2019s essential to know for a few reasons. One, maybe you liked the song. Secondly, if you\u2019re a TikTok creator, using popular or trending audio can help your video go viral versus loitering near the bottom of the playlist. So, if you need to find a song, here\u2019s a step-by-step guide.<\/p>\n\n\n

Use Shazam\n<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

While Shazam can\u2019t identify all audio<\/a>, it\u2019s great for identifying something based on just a few seconds of a song. Shazam is a free app that iOS<\/a> and Android<\/a> users can download, and it can identify the song used in a TikTok video. \n<\/p>\n\n\n

You can search in Shazam while using TikTok, too. Long-press the Shazam button until it says \u201cAuto Shazam is on,\u201d then swap to the TikTok app and play the video you want to identify. Check the Bottom of the Screen\n<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When watching a TikTok video, a little ticker at the bottom of the screen will tell you what the song is. If it\u2019s a listed audio clip or song, you\u2019ll see it scroll across with the song’s name. If a user adds something, it will say \u201cOriginal Audio\u201d or \u201cOriginal Sound.\u201d\n<\/p>\n\n\n

Like Shazam, Soundhound<\/a> excels at identifying specific pieces of audio. It\u2019s not quite as popular as Shazam, but it is a great alternative if Shazam can\u2019t quite pinpoint the song. In fact, many users find Soundhound to be faster and more efficient at identifying songs than Shazam \u2013 but it falls short in terms of remixes and recordings of live events. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Use Musixmatch\n<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Like Shazam and Soundhound, Musixmatch<\/a> is another tool for finding audio bits. While it\u2019s probably a better option to use the other two apps, there are some (very) rare instances when you can\u2019t find the song in either of their databases, but it might be in Musixmatch. The service has a massive catalog of musical lyrics, and you can search by those alone.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just enter a few lines of the song that you can remember. You might need to try different phrases, especially if multiple songs have those exact words. (In other words, \u201cyeah, yeah, yeah baby\u201d probably won\u2019t yield results.) \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Check Trending Sounds\n<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One easy way to find trending audio (especially audio that isn\u2019t a song) is to check the Trending Sounds page of TikTok. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  2. Look through the trending songs beneath TikTok Viral. They\u2019re sorted into categories like \u201cUnboxing\u201d and \u201cVlog.\u201d

    Check Hashtags\n<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Sometimes, TikTok users<\/a> might opt to make their own voiceover instead of using a song. However, if these voiceovers become popular enough, they can sometimes become part of the sound library, especially if they\u2019re stitched frequently. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    In cases like this, users might identify the sound through hashtags \u2013 especially if the original sound came from a well-known influencer.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Use the iOS Music Recognition Tool\n<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Apple fans have an advantage when it comes to identifying songs. iOS has a built-in music recognition tool, courtesy of Apple\u2019s acquisition of Shazam. You can enable this in settings.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        To use the tool, you must open TikTok and find a video you want to identify. Next, swipe down from the Control Center, tap the Shazam symbol, and wait for the song to be identified. \n<\/p>\n\n\n
