Enable Google Drive Dark Mode (Android)\n<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If your phone runs Android 10 or newer, enable the system-wide dark theme to use Google Drive<\/a> in dark mode.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Open the Settings<\/span> app, tap Display<\/span> (or Display & brightness<\/span>), and toggle on Dark theme<\/span> (or Dark mode<\/span>).\n<\/p>\n\n\n

You might find dark mode in Settings<\/span> > Accessibility<\/span> > Color and motion<\/span> on new Android phone models.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Google Drive returns to light mode when you turn off the dark theme. Follow the steps below to keep Google Drive in dark mode regardless of your device\u2019s theme settings.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Open Google Drive, tap the hamburger menu icon<\/span> in the top-left corner, and select Settings<\/span>.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n

      Enable Google Drive Dark Mode (iPhone and iPad)\n<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      Google Drive for iOS and iPadOS mirrors the device\u2019s theme by default. Enabling dark mode on your iPhone or iPad automatically activates dark mode in the Google Drive app.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Go to Settings<\/span> > Display & Brightness<\/span> and choose Dark<\/span> in the \u201cAppearance\u201d section. Toggle on Automatic<\/span> to set a custom schedule for Dark Mode on your device.\n<\/p>\n\n\n

      Google Drive should have a dark or black interface when you launch the app after enabling dark mode.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Enable Google Drive Dark Mode (Web)\n<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      We\u2019ll show you how to force Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox to load Google Drive in dark mode.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Enable Google Drive Dark Mode (Google Chrome) \n<\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

      Google Chrome has a secret menu (called Chrome Flags) with hundreds of experimental settings and features. Follow the steps below to enable dark mode for Google Drive on the web in Google Chrome. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      1. Open Google Chrome, paste chrome:\/\/flags<\/span> in the address bar, and press Enter<\/span> or Return<\/span> (Mac).\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n

        1. Type dark mode<\/span> in the search bar and open the Auto Dark Mode for Web Contents<\/span> drop-down menu.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        2. Choose Enabled<\/span> in the drop-down menu to activate Chrome\u2019s experimental dark mode.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        3. You\u2019ll get a prompt to restart the web browser to effect the changes. Select Relaunch<\/span> to close and reopen Chrome.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n

          Chrome will load the Google Drive website in dark mode when it restarts. Disabling Chrome\u2019s experimental dark mode is just as easy. Return to the flags menu, set \u201cAuto Dark Mode for Web Contents\u201d to Default<\/span> or Disabled<\/span>, and restart Chrome.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Load Google Drive in Dark Mode (Microsoft Edge)\n<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

          Microsoft Edge\u2019s default dark theme doesn\u2019t work with Google Drive, but the experimental dark mode does. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

              Google Drive: Dark Cloud Edition\n<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

              Dark mode is (currently) experimental in Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. Your browser or computer could become unstable when using experimental flags. They could also compromise your privacy\/security and cause data loss.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

              If your browser or computer malfunctions after enabling dark mode, disable the feature and restart the browser. Reboot your computer if the issue persists.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
