1. Use Your Phone as Virtual Remote\n<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Google Home app<\/a> has a built-in virtual Chromecast remote control. Use the Google Home app to navigate your Chromecast if the physical remote isn\u2019t working.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Connect your smartphone to the same Wi-Fi network as your Chromecast<\/a> and follow the steps below.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Install Google Home on your Android<\/a> or iOS<\/a> smartphone and sign into the Google account linked to your Chromecast.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. The app should automatically detect your Chromecast if it\u2019s on the same Wi-Fi network as your phone. Head to the Devices<\/span> tab and select your Chromecast.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Tap the Add<\/span> button to manually link your Chromecast if the Google Home app doesn\u2019t detect it automatically.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      2. Check Battery Status or Replace Batteries\n<\/h2>\n\n\n

      Your Chromecast remote won\u2019t work if its batteries are dead or inserted incorrectly. Check the battery level of your Voice Remote in the settings menu.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Open your Voice Remote\u2019s back cover and check that the batteries are secure and fitted correctly. Align the battery polarities\u2014positive(+) and negative(-) sides\u2014in line with the inscription in the battery compartment. The LED light on the Chromecast Voice Remote should pulse twice when you reinsert the batteries.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Insert two new 1.5 Volts AAA alkaline batteries in your Voice Remote if the LED light doesn\u2019t flash. Ensure you replace both batteries, not one\u2014the issue might persist if you mix old and new batteries.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            3. Update Your Chromecast Remote\n<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
